Cats crush swans

August 02, 2017

It was a nice day in Chiltern on Saturday with the works on the ground having it in excellent condition.

The only issue there was a strong breeze favouring the town end of the ground.

Captain Jake unfortunately lost the toss and Rutherglen had to kick into the breeze.

The backline stood up magnificently with some great football fed to the forwards allowing the Cats to take a two goal lead into the first break.

From there it was good to see a very even contribution from all Rutherglen players to take control of an undermanned Chiltern side that was missing some of its most experienced players.

Chris Oats was again superb with his running, foot and hand skills and Ron Fuge kicked another bag of eight to feature in the best.

Score: Cats 22.12.144 defeated Chiltern 6.13.49.

Only two games left to play so it is vitally important to keep building, starting with this week’s all important Organ Donation Awareness game against Beechworth at Barkley Park.
