Federation Council Administrator Mike Eden.

Federation Council's Administrator from May 2016 to September 2017, Mike Eden, is to be formally congratulated on his performance, as resolved at the first monthly meeting on September 26 of the council's nine elected councillors.

Council's General Manager Chris Gillard said Mr Eden had undertaken "a very complex and sensitive position" that has "supported the birth and growth of Federation Council tirelessly for the past 16 months".

"His leadership of the implementation and merger activities (Urana and Corowa Shires) has contributed to creating a solid foundation to support the success of the new council," Mr Gillard added.

It was a packed chamber for council's history making meeting, which included several persons from Howlong who were keen to know council's next move or decision on the proposed waste organic facility on the outskirts of their town, a facility in which Mr Eden supported.

Cr Gail Law said she did not believe there was anyone in the room who could have done a better job than Mr Eden. "I believe he did a good job and fulfilled his role in an admirable and successful manner," she said.

"He had no previous Local Government experience and to step in and do what he did was commendable."

Council unanimously resolved to congratulate Mr Eden on the motion of Crs Law and Paul Miegel. Mr Eden said he was "very happy" with council's unanimous resolution regarding his performance.

"I was very keen to ensure that with the first council meeting, there wasn't a distraction with me being present - it was all about the new mayor and councillors," he told the Free Press.

"My job is finished and I'm pleased the community got it right. I'm pleased Pat Bourke is mayor. The community always gets it right when they vote.

"The councillors elected are very passionate community members. I think the council's been left in very good financial shape and when the new councillors look at what's been done in the past 16 months I think they will be impressed."

The Administrator submitted an End of Term Report to Federation Council which was attached to the agenda for council's September meeting.
