A sparkling near record nine-under-par round of 62 put our star international golfer Marcus Fraser as joint leader of the European Tour’s Italian Open at Golf Club Milano after the second round.
A one-over-par 72 third round put the 39-year-old back but a brilliant six-under-par final round last Sunday meant he climbed back up the leaderboard to finish outright fifth, with an overall -18, total of 266.
It was just three strokes back from the winner, Englishman Tyrell Hatton who pocketed $990,000 for his victory.
Fraser started off on the prestigious, glorious parkland surrounds course with a four-under 67 before his sensational 62, which included nine birdies, five of which were consecutive birdies starting on the eighth hole.
The mighty effort was just one shot short of equalling the 61 score record on the 89-year-old course.
