Athletics donation well received

November 15, 2017

Corowa RSL Club General Manager Peter Norris, on behalf of the club, was delighted to donate $1500 towards the Corowa Little Athletics Club’s new scissor kick mats.

The mats were a vital purchase for the club as its old mats were rather dated and, to ensure the safety of the children, new ones were needed.

The club is very thankful to the Corowa RSL Club and has had a successful start to the season with 82 kids registered for the season.

Corowa RSL Club General Manager Peter Norris said when presented with the opportunity to support the Corowa Little Athletics Club it was an easy decision for the club board which recognises grassroots sport as a key component in community development.

“Local children benefit from participating in both healthy and fun activities and while there is the chance of identifying future stars, more importantly children are taught social interaction,” he said.

“There is also the added benefit of possibly developing life-long healthy fitness habits and the impact on this is priceless.

“The Corowa RSL Club is delighted to contribute to this special activity in our local community; we believe we have a key role to play in the development of our local children.”
Little Athletics Club President Megan Copolino has done a great job with event programming, making it exciting for the kids each week and the club’s new online results make it easy for kids to check their individual progress and track their personal bests.
Kids are enjoying the season with many looking to represent Corowa Little Athletics Club at other clubs for open days and championships.
With five meets left for this season and then with the club starting back after school holidays, it’s not too late to sign kids up to little athletics.

Contact the club via its Facebook page for more information.

Meanwhile, the club would like to list some of the many PB’s that its great athletes have got in some of its recent events.
