The 2017 Murray Quad Championships was held on November 18 with the first ever all female relay team to register and complete the event.

Brie Kerr from Oaklands and her team mates, Lisa Talbot (Corowa), Julie Underwood (Coreen) and Sarah Dare (Mulwala) competed in the event that includes a swim, run, cycle and paddle around a 141 kilometre course that starts in Yarrawonga and finishes in Tocumwal on the mighty Murray River.

The team called themselves the “Mighty Murray Matriarchs” and had a last-minute team change an hour before the event was due to start, with team member Briony Taylor from Corowa unable to compete.

Sarah Dare from Dare to Train in Mulwala stepped in to fill the position.

The team finished third overall in the relay team section with an accumulative time of 7 hours and 53 minutes for the total distance and Sarah won fastest female in the bike leg.
