Members of the Wahgunyah and District Men’s Shed Incorporated are celebrating news of a grant to purchase equipment thanks to the Veteran and Community Grants Programme.
Federal Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan has welcomed the provision of $54,640.58 for projects in Wodonga, Wahgunyah and Corryong under Round 2 of the Veteran and Community Grants Programme.
The Wahgunyah and District Men’s Shed Incorporated will receive $19,229.53 to purchase equipment to expand the programs provided to members.
“This money supports an important project that will make a big difference to the lives of members who access activities, programs and services that help reduce social isolation,” Ms McGowan said.
“I congratulate everyone associated with the Wahgunyah and District Men’s Shed for their hard work in realising this project and wish them well in building upon their existing programs to support members’ needs.”
The Men’s Shed was built late last year at Wahgunyah’s Racecourse and Recreation Reserve.
Men’s Shed President Len Carlson welcomed the funds.
“This grant is strictly for tools and has come in handy and we are starting to make a hole in the grant with our purchases,” he said.
“We will be getting just about every type of electric tool and we are in the process of ordering them.”
