The Murray Felines have commenced pre-season training for the 2018 season.

Under the tutelage of former AFL star Brad Nicholson, 22 Felines braved the heat at the Rutherglen Showgrounds on February 7 for their first training session for the season.

This year the Felines will be fielding an under 16 team and an open (over 16) team in what is shaping up to be an exciting season.

Female football is continuing to grow.

In the local North East competition another club, Wangaratta Rovers has joined the league and each team will now be fielding two teams.

The coaching line-up for the Felines includes Brad Nicholson, Nathan Thomas and Darren Simpson.

Nicholson was delighted with the numbers at the first training session.

He said the initial emphasis for training would be on skills and having fun.

Nicholson strongly encourages any female thinking about football to come down and give it a try.

All enquires and newcomers will be welcome.

For preseason, the training for the Felines will be on Monday and Wednesday evening from 5.30pm at the Rutherglen Showgrounds.

For more information on the Felines, follow the team on the Facebook page or contact Nadine Nicholson on 0433 782 646.
