Corowa Market held on Monday, February 19 with 5,669 lambs yarded, a decrease of 1652 from previous week, 2,895 sheep yarded which was an increase of 183.
Lamb numbers eased and the quality was a little more mixed.
Trade and heavy lambs were well supplied along with only a few lighter weights and store lambs.
Quality was a big driver in price with neatly shorn rounded lambs attracting the premium selling $5 to $8 dearer while longer fleeced and plainer pens firm to $5/head cheaper.
Not all the usual buyers operated.
The heavier restocking lambs sold from $106 to $121/head.
The medium and heavy trade weights sold from $120 to $153/head to average 645c/kg cwt.
Heavy lambs received $145 to $180 and extra heavy lambs $170 to $215/head.
Carcase prices averaged 630c/kg cwt.
Heavy hoggets reached $157/head.
Mutton numbers also eased and the quality remains mixed.
Lighter weight 1 and 2 score sheep sold to a cheaper trend while well covered medium and heavy weights were $6/head dearer on average.
Medium weight ewes sold between $74 and $113 and heavy crossbreds reached $140/head.
