Seniors

Rutherglen 15.6.96 def by Barnawartha 15.13.103.
Only a short trip down the road to Barnawartha for an important match for the Cats, after a week off it is always hard to know how the team will front up.
After starting off with the first 2 goals the Cats seemed to expect things to happen, to Barny’s credit they hit their straps and took the game by the scruff of the neck kicking the next 9 goals to take a 48 point lead into the main break.
Coach Wilson was not too pleased at half time, without going over the top worked with the group to all identify the areas that were going wrong, as well as identify what was needed to get the game back on the Cats own terms.
It was a different team in the third quarter bringing the margin back to 28 points at three quarter time and Rutherglen were in with a chance.
The last quarter saw the Cats get back within 1 point and had chances to win the game, to Barny’s credit they held strong and managed to pinch a late goal to win by 7 points in what was one of the most entertaining second halves of football the crowd has seen for a while.
Courageous effort to get back into the game, but the Cats can’t afford to let teams get a big lead and expect to win.
Now for another big challenge with the Bombers heading to Barkly Park full of confidence this week.

Adam Lawrence and Zave Talbot again lead the way, closely followed by Michael Cooper, Ryan Rhodes and Tom Maloney in his first game for the club.
Josh Warren put the off-field issues of the last two weeks behind him to kick 7 goals in a dominant performance.

Under 17s

Rutherglen 3.3.21 def by Barnawartha 18.21.129.
The Cats Under 17’s went into the game undermanned and were soon dealt an even worse scenario, with their inform ruckman James Russell going down with a badly broken collarbone.
His team mates and the whole “Cats” family wish James a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing him back around the club again soon.
The boys then lost Sam Tynan with a dislocated jaw, leaving them without a bench for most of the game.
The team fought the game out till the end but the task ahead was always going to be a tough one.
The youngest Cats on Saturday were over powered by a stronger Barnawartha team but the game seemed a lot closer than what the scoreboard indicated.
James Keys and Tyler Benbow were the Cats best, with a number of the boys continuing to get better each week.
