Organisers are hoping for a packed Oddfellows Hall in Corowa this Friday, January 24 for the fifth annual Tim Fischer Oration dinner. But there are still tickets left, for what will be a special night.
“It’s special because with the passing of Tim Fischer we want to comment about him in respect of this night and his immense work for Corowa,” ticket organiser Gary Poidevin OAM told The Free Press.
“He gave us the use of his name for this special night and the address by our special guest speaker Cathy McGowan will be interesting.”
The Rotary Club of Corowa hosts this special night at the Oddfellows Hall in Sanger Street. It begins at 6:30 pm, as part of its annual Federation Festival weekend.
Rotary President Paul Miegel said the oration is in honour of the late, great Tim Fischer AC, the former Federal Member for Farrer, leader of the National Party and Deputy Prime Minister, “who kindly allowed The Rotary Club to use his name”.
“I encourage people to come along,” the president said. “There will be a very interesting talk on recent political events and on Cathy entering politics, which will be great.
“It will be very entertaining – the first oration since Tim’s passing and therefore many poignant moments.”
Tickets for the dinner and oration are $60 per person for a three course meal with drinks at bar prices, and are now available from Marshall Batteries in Corowa by phoning (02) 6033 1689 or 0427 229 783.
