New regulations regarding Covid-19 were in place with visitors and vendors not permitted to attend the sale, however, the
regular field of buyers were in attendance.
Buyers were not operating fully with prices softening across the sale. The quality was mixed with all weights and grades on offer.
The bulk of the lamb offering was made up of trade weights suiting the domestic processors with the light and medium weights selling from $175 to $207, easing $12 and heavy trade, 22-24kg, eased $14, making from $198 to $217/head to average 921c/kg cwt.
Domestic and export competition was more subdued this week with heavy lambs reducing $16, selling from $210 to $228/head. The price correction continued into the export lambs with very limited over 30kg lambs available.
Lambs weighing 26-30kg sold from $228 to $260 to average 851c/kg cwt and a few pens over 30kg, reaching $275/head. Another good supply of finished light lamb’s suiting the export market were available selling from $150 to $165, easing $13/head. Re-stocker lambs sold from $72 to $130/head.
Mutton experienced softer trends after lifts over the past weeks. Heavy cross bred ewes sold from $201 to $270, easing from $25 to $30 to average from 672c to 687c/kg cwt and heavy merino ewes reached up to $244/head.
Good numbers of trade and light sheep sold from $97 to $188/head with trade sheep averaging from 620c to 730c/kg cwt.
