The highlights of Saturday were Lachy Seymour and Mitch Doyle having a win in the heat of the male open double scull.
In the final they rowed a strong race to finish 3rd place.
Bryce Stones and Joel Tyrrell placed 2nd in their heat of the male open pair which was enough to get them into the final in which they placed 4th.
The highlights of Sunday’s races were Lachy Seymour and Mitch Doyle winning their heat of the male open double scull.
The final was a contest between Wahgunyah, Rutherglen, Ballarat and Footscray.
They rowed a brilliant race to come from behind to be closing in on the leading boat in the final metres of the race before they crossed the finish line in 2nd place a metre behind the winning crew from Footscray.
Bryce Stones had a win in the heat of the male C Grade Single Scull and rowed to 2nd place in the final against some very strong rowers.
It was a busy afternoon for Phil Culhane having to compete in three races in an hour.
His first race was with Brooklyn O’Toole in the mixed double scull in which they rowed to 2nd place. He also rowed to 3rd place in the master’s single scull.
The final race for Phil was the master’s double scull with Neville Hetherington which they rowed a strong race to place 2nd.
The final races for the day was the Victorian Sprint State Championship for the male open pair for Bryce Stones and Joel Tyrrell.
They had a convincing win in their heat and in the final they had an even start against the Rutherglen and Richmond crews.
As they approached the half way mark, they were even with the Richmond crew as they steered a great course to come out in front after the corner to sprint to the finish line for a two length win over Richmond.
Overall it was a great regatta for the Wahgunyah Rowing Club on and off the water.
With the club running the coffee and bar sales for the weekend as well as the raffle with all the members putting in a fantastic effort to keep everything running well over the weekend.
Wahgunyah Rowing Club would also like to thank the other clubs of the Murray Rowing Association (Corowa Rowing Club and Rutherglen Lake Rowing Club) for their efforts in putting on another great regatta.
