It was a successful day for the 141st Corowa Show, with festival goers enjoying the balmy weather and a variety of entertainment in what was an increased turnout from last year.

People from all over the region attended one of the town’s most exciting days, resulting in increased attendance from last year for an event that has entertained the community for well over a century.
Show Secretary Jan McKenna said she was pleased with how the day fared, which generated great participation in some of the longstanding traditions, as well as the new.
“It’s the best day we’ve had overall for quite a while which the nice weather helped out with,” she said.
“Our Showgirl/Boy competition had more children this year than any year before. Even after entries had closed after 12.30pm, we still had parents wanting to enter their kids.
“Fleece was up this year and the poultry shed was full with over 100 chooks.”
Attendees were treated to non-stop entertainment throughout the day with stilt walking, fire breathing and balloon tying performers roving the Corowa Showgrounds from 10am.
The circus performances, reptile show, animal nursery, the dodgem cars along with show bags were more than enough to keep the kids engrossed in the vibrant atmosphere.
Ms McKenna said that the show has been able to sustain its success for over a century, due to the commitment of the Corowa Show committee and the many other volunteers.
“The show is a credit to the people who get involved and volunteer their time just to see it happen year in and year out as a community event.”
Despite the great turnout this year, Jan said that the future of the show ultimately rests in injecting some youth into the committee.
“The Main Pavilion entrances for kids were way down this year.
“With everyone on the committee being over 70 years old, we desperately want young people to get onboard to ensure that the show continues.
“If we can’t, it might not be here in the near future.”
The Corowa P A & H Society would like to say thank you to all those who attended the show, and to the many volunteers who helped out on the day and the week leading up. Your support is very much appreciated and welcomed.
