Stefanovic makes comeback via radio show

By AAP Newswire

Karl Stefanovic will join 2GB Radio as a regular contributor to a new program, marking another step forward in his media comeback.

The former Today host was unceremoniously axed last year and has spent seven months on hiatus, away from the public eye.

Last month he returned to the spotlight when he attended the Logies and told reporters he had relished the break.

"Sometimes we push and we push and we push and we don't know how tired we are," Stefanovic told reporters.

"For the first part of the year for me it was nice not to do anything, I really needed it after a long time ... now I'm ready and raring to go."

Macquarie Media Limited announced on Saturday Stefanovic would join new midday program, The Steve Price Show, on Mondays.

The line-up of regular contributors includes current Today co-host Deborah Knight, Erin Molan, Phil Gould, Rita Panahi and Mieke Buchan.

"Afternoons will be a combination of opinion, talkback, breaking news and more," Price said in a statement.

The Nine Network dumped Stefanovic from its flagship morning program after 15 years, following a difficult year that involved falling ratings and unrelenting coverage of his personal life.

Stefanovic's star waned after he left his wife of more than 20 years, Cassandra Thorburn, and began dating model-turned-shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough.

The 44-year-old and Yarbrough, 34, wed in a lavish Mexican four-day celebration in December, extensively reported in the Australian media.
