Pretty impressive in pink Mother’s Day Classic raises $1300 for cancer research

By Holly Tregenza

IT’S not every day that you see 40 people clad in pink racing through Girgarre.

But the Mother’s Day Classic, now in its second year, drew a substantial crowd on May 12 with the help of 10 local volunteers.

They raised an impressive $1300 for breast cancer research.

Kezia Talbot, Girgarre Community Cottage coordinator and event organiser, said it was a fantastic turnout.

“We had so much fun at the Classic this year and want to thank so many people who made the day the success it was,” she said.

“In particular, we would like to thank our major sponsor, Kerr’s Amcal Pharmacy, and Landcare, who donated 100 trees for our participants.

“All of the feedback we received was extremely positive and we will be holing this event again next year. We would love it to grow.”
