Boomerang bags are back

Corowa and District Boomerang Bags are pleased to be back on board for 2019.

Lynn Fredericks from The Corowa Men’s Shed has generously built and donated a timber stand for the boomerang bag’s which has been placed in the Supa IGA. Craig Waldron, owner of Corowa Supa IGA, has been very supportive of the initiative to reduce plastic bags.

According to the ‘War on Waste’ statistics, Australians use over 10 million plastic bags a day and 85 per cent of soft plastics from bags and packaging ends up in landfill.

The group has recently formed a partnership with the Federation Youth Council and is going to run a school art competition with the theme:

Reduce, Reuse, Refuse or Recycle. Primary school children will be invited to draw a picture using the theme and a class from Corowa High School will be given the opportunity to create a short video to spread the message. The posters, including winning entries will be displayed in the Civic Centre in May.
