Two Mulwala residents and a former Howlong resident, originally from different parts of the world, formally became Australian citizens on May 21, 2019.
An Australian Citizenship Ceremony was conducted by Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke at council’s latest monthly meeting for Mulwala’s Lai (Summer) Yin Lai and Bharat (Mick) Sharma, and Tahlia Franks, formerly of Howlong.
Summer, 36, moved to Australia from Hong Kong in 2012 and works in Corowa, at Rivalea. Thirty-one-year-old Mick moved to Australia in 2008, from India and he manages the BP Service Station in Mulwala.
Tahlia, 24, moved from New Zealand to Australia when just 20-months-of-age and lived in Howlong for 22 years - the place of her residence when she sought Australian citizenship. She now resides in Albury where he has her own beauty salon.
Following the Federation Council ceremony, it was a delicious morning tea with councillors of Federation Council where the three new Aussies were congratulated accordingly.
