After 12 rounds and more than four months of cricket, the race to taste Murray Valley Cricket Association premier division finals action boils down to two numbers.

Either 179 runs will be made at Katamatite Recreation Reserve tomorrow and Nathalia will rise into fourth spot or the Tigers will take 10 wickets and hold on to their semi-final berth.

The calibre of the Purples’ batting line-up means the conclusion of tomorrow’s clash is extremely unlikely to peter out into a failed chase with wickets left in the shed — rather Nathalia’s stars will throw everything they have at the home side in an attempt to lift their side into the knockout rounds.

After a 66-run opening partnership last week between Andrew Erickson and Sam Gordon, Katamatite’s innings was halted by wickets at regular intervals before it was eventually ended on 178.

The Purples will look to lean on the likes of Ash Quinn (211 at 70.3 including 159 last round), Scott Morris (306 runs at 34), skipper Luke Quinn (273 at 30.3) and the big-hitting Brodie Ross to steer them to victory with the bat.

Tocumwal’s season could finish on a high after the side made 6-250 from its 80 overs last week.

The Bloods lost the toss and were sent in to bat at Memorial Park, but cashed in at the crease with Brad House (80) leading the way.

Anthony Bradley’s 3-39 was the best figures with the ball for Deniliquin, with the Rhinos looking to bat big themselves tomorrow in front of a home crowd.

In the other match of the round, Cobram’s Tyron Baden (113 not out) and Izac Artavilla (85) lifted their side to a huge total of 7-299 after coming together at the crease with the scoreboard reading 5-89.

Barooga’s batting will be tested tomorrow as it searches for a score of 300 to get the job done against its fierce rival.
