One of the biggest days on the Corowa racing calendar saw fans and spectators flocking to the undercover betting ring, live entertainment area and activities to keep the children occupied.
The $35,000 Corowa Cup feature race was won by $3.60 chance Noble Descent trained by Wagga Wagga-based Gary Colvin.
Well-known Corowa trainer Geoff Duryea ensured he got a share of the prize money with his seven-year-old gelding Tudor Rule finishing 1.3 lengths behind the winner.
Duryea’s only victory came in Race 3, where lightly-raced filly Moves Like Zizi pipped her opponents.
The only other Corowa trainers to have runners on the day were Rick Freyer and Erica Giggins. Freyer’s best result was $151 long shot Another Jay Brown, a six-year-old gelding that finished fourth, two lengths behind the leader in the cup race.
