Cats 9.13.67 def by Beechworth 12.6.78
The Senior Cats side started the game well kicking out to a four goal to one lead at quarter time. Unfortunately, that same commitment wasn’t seen in the second quarter as Beechworth dominated play all around the ground with the Cats boys seemingly unable to stop the Beechworth teams run and carry and pinpoint delivery into the Bushranger’s forward line.
Even with a number of positional changes the third quarter saw the Beechworth team continue on where they left off at half time and ran out to a 33 point lead, by kicking another 5 goals in the quarter.
After scoring just 1 goal 7 in the second and third quarters, a big turnaround was required.
While the home side did come home with a 4 goals, 5 behind last quarter, keeping Beechworth to just 1 goal 1, it was not enough to pinch the game.
There were valuable lessons to learn from Saturday, bad kicking is bad football, being switched on for just 2 quarters is not going to win you many games and let’s get some more numbers to training.

Rutherglen Fourths where soundly beaten by a strong Beechworth outfit.
The team tried hard all day, but were unable to keep up with the older and larger team from Beechworth.
Indi Kotzur continued his strong form being best on ground, while Ryan Milthorpe and Tommy Allison battled all day in defence.
Younger players Luke Nicholson and Lenni Hill where in the best players along with Alex Waring and Angus Williams.

A hard fought game against Beechworth which saw all the boys contribute.
Special mention to Charlie Kafarela and Owen Dinsdale in the ruck, Mitch Francis kicking his first goal, Luke Nicholson, Jack Torney and Archer Colvin for their attacking of the ball and high tackle counts.
The newer players all played well and got involved with controlling the football.
All the boys again showed great sportsmanship and respect for the jumper they were wearing and should be very proud of themselves.
