Cats 12-11-83 def Wodonga Saints 6-9-45
Unfortunately the Cats won’t be playing there this year, but it was good for the guys to get a run on the Sandy Creek ground which the curator has in tip top condition, with a bit of warm finals weather just around the corner it will again be a spectacle out there.
It was a big effort by the Saints to cart all their gear out there to cater for the day, so thank you to the club. With four out again this week it took a while to shake off the Saints, the Cats always had their noses in front but it wasn’t until the third quarter to start to pull away.
A thirty eight point win in the end with one game to go. Let’s see if the team can finish off with a win against Yack to end the year.
A trip to Sandy Creek on Saturday to play the Saints, knowing the team had to win to stay in the five. The Cats were under the pump right from the start, chasing instead of getting the ball and by half time the team was letting the game slip away, but Rick Lions and Tommy Renshaw again were playing with purpose.
By the end of the third quarter the Cats were down by nearly five majors. But realising that this was not good enough the boys started to fire, with Brodie Griffiths opening up space from the backline and Zave Talbot, Matt Andison and Damien Pleming keeping the Cats in touch.
Darcy Spinks moved into the centre for some well needed grunt and power to get within four points with minutes to go. Sadly it was too little too late.
The Cats are a proud side and it showed after the game, seeing the hurt of letting a winnable game slip away.
One more game to go against the ladder leaders next Saturday at home and hopefully if the team brings their best they can cause a major upset, but it will be up to the 22 that go out on the track. Get around the Cats and help bring the boys home with a win! Go Cats!

Tommy Allison and Ryan Milthorpe continued their strong form from half back while Finn Manderson, Charlie James and Luke Nicholson where all solid performers.
