Because of the forecast high temperature, the CVBD Match committee reduced all round nine games to 21 ends and played straight through without a break.
In hot conditions — although the compulsory cut off temperature was not reached — Division One took on Rich River and lost by six shots overall, 67 to 61.
The only joy for Division One was a win by Graham Nisbet, Tony Danckert, Jenny Tonta and Linda Harris (s) who jumped out of the blocks to lead 18 to 1 after eight ends.
Rich River fought back scoring 11 shots over the next seven ends before Deni took control of the game, scoring seven shots over the last six ends to win by six shots.
Final score, Deni 27 to Rich River 21.
Lindsay Franklin, Brenda Leetham, Fay Munnerley and skip Jill Grimshaw lost by four shots.
Final score, Rich River 22 to Deni 18.
Paul Snare, Toni Brooksby, Winnie Pattinson and Caryn Hillier (s) just could not keep up with their opponents, suffering an eight shot loss.
Final score, Rich River 24 to Deni 16.
Division Three had a draw and a loss against neighbouring team Mathoura, going down by 15 shots overall; 50 to 35.
Lorraine Tasker, Aileen Kennedy, Chris Frampton and skip Robyn Little had a close game all day with nothing splitting the two teams at the end of play.
Final score, Deni 17 to Mathoura 17.
Loris Yates, Noel Murray, Maureen King and Cheryl Bradley (s) were leading 17 to 6 after 10 ends.
Mathoura fought back with a ‘five’, then a ‘six’ to level the scores on the 12th end.
From there Mathoura took control of the game, and no matter what Deni did, Mathoura did it better and went on to win by 15 shots.
Final score, Mathoura 33 to Deni 18.
Both divisions are at home again this week, with both Deni teams playing City of Echuca.
