A reward is still on offer for information leading to the safe return of PD Quizz who went missing while helping track down an offender at Redbank Plains, southwest of Brisbane, on Tuesday morning.
But police say they will reduce their "large scale, multi-agency" search involving all-terrain vehicles, trail bikes and drones for the three-year-old Sable German Shepherd on Sunday.
His handler - Senior Constable Dan McGreevy - said police had been overwhelmed by the community's support during the exhaustive search, which will remain ongoing.
"My family and I are deeply appreciative of everyone who has given their time to help find our best friend," he said.
"He is much loved and is deeply missed. We are heartbroken and miss him every moment he's not with us.
"It has been my honour to serve with Quizz and remain hopeful that we will find him, so we can continue to help make our community a safer place together."
Police first feared PD Quizz may have been stuck in nearby bushland after he got separated from his handler during Tuesday's pursuit.
Due to minimal sightings over several days, police believe it is "probable" a member of the public may have taken the dog in.
PD Quizz has a black and tan hide and was wearing a black tracking harness with a long lead when he went missing in dense bushland off Greenwood Village Road.
He is not considered dangerous but should not be approached.
Anyone with information including CCTV or dash cam footage of the Redbank Plains area since 3am on Tuesday should contact police.
