Despite all the restrictions we are under at the present time, Corowa Girl Guides are continuing to meet and participated in the online ANZAC Day Camp last Friday and Saturday.

The girls had many activities related to the armed forces and World War 1 to complete including making ANZAC biscuits, learning wartime skills such as semaphore, making planes and boats, craft activities and holding an online campfire.
It was a great success as unit members got together from Gippsland, near Geelong and Corowa. They really enjoyed the activities especially floating their boats, comparing their ANZAC biscuits and where they had slept overnight – back yard, under a table or in makeshift tents.
The camp finished off at dawn. The girls had made wreaths and candles to take to their driveway with their families for the One Minute Silence which made the camp very meaningful to everyone.
There is so much in the Guide Program that can be done without the usual face to face meetings. The multitude of challenges relate to community service activities, life outdoors, life around the world, craft activities, life skills and games from a distance. Active and passive. Guides can never say they are bored!
When restrictions have lifted, and they can get back together so many more challenges and activities will open up for the girls of Corowa Guide District. And given the wonderful location of Baden Lodge [Guide Hall] many of these will be outdoors.
