For 2028 and beyond, Fuller will no doubt be a sought-after signature for expansion clubs such as the Perth Bears and PNG Chiefs but prizing him away from his Brisbane-based young family and his beloved Dolphins is no easy task.
The 29-year-old recently knocked back a $1.7 million three-year deal with Wakefield amid contract negotiations with the Dolphins, which were resolved on Tuesday with his extension.
A strong and open relationship with coach Kristian Woolf informed his decision.
"It is good that I know what I am doing for the next year so that I can focus on my footy," he said.
"(Woolf) has always been transparent with me and lets me know what my job is.Â
"He has always said that he doesn't want me to leave and that I have always got a place here, so I was happy to stay."
The offer at Wakefield seemed on the surface like it was too good to refuse, but Fuller and his partner have a young family and more on the way.
Fuller, who has played just 19 matches for the Dolphins since making his debut in 2023, said "the money" was tempting but his priority was elsewhere.
"I've got a missus that's due next month, so I will stick around until that baby stage is over," he said.
Dolphins regular fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is in Queensland camp, so Fuller will have his chance at No.1 against Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night
Fuller was straight to the point when asked what Woolf had told him about his role in the immediate future.
"Just back-up for Hammer (Tabuai-Fidow) pretty much," he said.
Fuller said he would like to start but when asked about his back-up role said he was "happy with that".
Woolf's honesty and Fuller's willingness to accept his situation will be viewed by many as highly commendable in the modern era.
Most clubs have their fullbacks sorted for the immediate future and in south-east Queensland that is the case with Tabuai-Fidow at the Dolphins, Reece Walsh at Brisbane and Keano Kini at the Gold Coast.
If Tabuai-Fidow is the "Hammer", then Fuller is the "Power Drill" with his electrifying incisions into and through opposition defences. He has always been a stellar performer when elevated to the top grade.
The Dolphins have five players unavailable due to Origin for their match against the Roosters, and Fuller says he just wants to be part of extending the club's five-game winning streak.
"I'm excited, especially when the boys have been going good," Fuller said.
"It is chance for all of us fellas to step in and try and continue what they have been doing."
