Meanwhile, both B and C Grade took to the stage in the Qualifying Final last weekend, in what was a monumental feat for Roos senior netball.
Unfortunately both grades suffered narrow defeats, but they will each have another chance to keep their premiership hopes alive this weekend.
B Grade
Roos 38 def by North Albury 39
The Roos will look to redeem themselves in an elimination game next week, letting the opportunity slip to secure a spot in the preliminary final after a narrow loss to North Albury on the weekend.
B grade fought hard all day but silly errors meant the team spent the game chasing a score and falling short in the last seconds of the game. The team is now looking towards another battle next weekend, with all three teams playing over the Saturday and Sunday.
Eloise Maddox had a great game, maintained focus and chased every loose ball.
Zoe McLeish welcome back to this super star - her strength in the ring is outstanding and causes headaches to any defensive opposition player.
Zali Spencer has really shone this season and today was no different - From one end to the other Zali adapts without hesitation and puts on a great display of guts and determination.
C Grade
Roos 47 def by Yarrawonga 51
C grade fought hard and had an excellent first quarter with Rosie Dye standing strong and was supported well by Jess king out front in attack. Brooke Ollington was dynamite in attack providing much needed drive breaking through Yarra’s defence. Unfortunately the Yarra girls found their feet in the second half with Corowa throwing away a lot of ball. Courtney Haigh was formidable in defence, constantly tipping and pressuring mistakes from the Yarra shooters. She was supported well by Bec Kuschert and Rowena Black.
Amy Monte proved to be a hassle for the Yarra defenders in attack by scoring crucial goals in the last quarter. The girls couldn’t fend off Yarrawonga - eventually falling by four goals. Luckily the team has a second chance against Wangaratta Rovers this Sunday at North Albury.
