Corowa Cricket Club President Paul Lavis predicts the impressive looking sports facility is six to eight weeks away, depending on trades, for completion of the project.
“It is going to be more impressive than imagined probably due to the way it sits over the ground,” he told The Free Press of the facility being constructed.
“It’s very exciting and sets us up very nicely.”
The $314,600 project is being undertaken by David Lane of Corowa. The building’s elevation will provide an excellent view of the on-field action.
Inspecting the building’s progress last Friday, Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke said that council is thrilled to continue to progress the new community facility projects.
“This will provide a modern facility that meets all requirements and is another great addition to this area,” he said.
“This is of course an area already very well regarded across the region, for its playing surfaces for both hockey and cricket.”
The mayor said the pavilion’s design is complementary to the new Swimming Pool complex building being constructed next door as part of the new $10.3 million pool complex.
“Corowa has strong participation levels and results in these sports, and are proud of our very successful cricket and hockey clubs,” Mayor Bourke said.
“Council looks forward to seeing continued growth in both cricket and hockey numbers once this new facility is open.”
The multi-sports pavilion project has been largely funded through the 2019 NSW Government Stronger Country Communities program following a grant application prepared and lodged by the Corowa Cricket Club and supported by Federation Council.
