The Yarrawonga woman remained in isolation until, Monday, February 17 after being tested for the virus, also known as COVID-19.
News broke on the weekend when it was reported that upon arrival in Melbourne from Singapore the woman was met on her plane by health professionals after falling ill.
After presenting no fever the woman was sent home to Yarrawonga, where as a precaution she also sought further medical advice from theYarrawonga Medical Clinic.
It is believed the woman fell ill while travelling overseas through Asia.
Mrs Ronan said the clinic had reason to conduct coronavirus testing in line with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) guidelines.
“The result was negative but demonstrates our ability to manage a potentially dangerous infectious contact.
“We deployed our appropriate level of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and isolation of the patient.
“We did the appropriate testing and management of the patient and sought confirmation from the Infectious Diseases section of DHHS.
“We have been well prepared in anticipation of such an event and will continue to seek information and advice from relevant authorities,” Mrs Ronan said.
