Howlong Veterans Golf

A glorious spring day greeted the players as they hit the course for the Hyundai Genesis Howlong Vets competition on Monday, October 2.

The ever popular event had another great turnout with a field of 53 men and 20 women who took to the beautiful Howlong Golf Resort course.

The Howlong Greens are looking fantastic having come off a full renovation in early September.

The Vets again had some fantastic scores, with golfers from Albury, Wangaratta, Beechworth, Corowa, Queanbeyan and Pennant Hills, joining visitors the Howlong members on course.

The Men's A Grade winner was Allen Brown, with a score of 38, from Rodney Moyle who took out second on a countback.

Phil Cummings beat Laurie Moylan in the Men's B Grade with a score of 37 against Peter's 35 on a count back.

Di Tyrell Miller took the chocolates in the ladies’ division with the score of the day with 40 points.

Ann Bumbers back from her northern adventures came in second to Di with an excellent score of 39.

A big thank you for the great work from our volunteers Barry Bird and Dave Lowe who cooked the free barbecue for all of the players.

The next Hyundai Genesis Howlong Veterans competition is on Monday, October 30 at 8am for an 8.30am shotgun start.

This is an open competition to those players with an official handicap who are 55 years or older.
