Corowa Market held on Monday, February 6 with 9,714 lambs yarded which was an increase of 3,301 from previous week, 3,344 sheep yarded an increase of 1,023.
Lamb numbers lifted and the quality improved. Heavy and extra heavy lambs were well supplied and there was a good run of trade weights.
Store lambs were back in volume.
Not all the usual buyers were operating but prices lifted on the better quality.
The 12-16kg restocking lambs sold from $112 to $129/head.
The medium and heavy trade weights were up to $5 dearer on average, and ranged between $124 and $163/head to trade buyers and averaged 650c to 680c/kg cwt.
Heavy lambs were $5 to $9 dearer and sold from $153 to $188 and extra heavy lambs reached $220/head.
Heavy merino lambs sold to $180/head.
Mutton numbers increased and the quality was again mixed.
The market was dearer on quality in the light and medium weight sheep and held firm on heavy weights.
Medium weight ewes sold from $84 to $117/head.
Heavy crossbreds $116 to $142 and merinos reached $135/head.
Carcase prices averaged around 430c/kg cwt for the better covered sheep.
