An absolutely beautiful winters day was the perfect backdrop for the under 16 game as the Felines battled Yarrawonga at Corowa’s John Foord Oval.
The Felines were back to asserting their impressive style of play which they do so well, it was fantastic to watch.
The midfield was in complete control with Yasmine Budic, Emily Keys, Mietta Habets and Caitlin Somerville providing plenty of drive and ball carry. Kaitlyn Cleal had her best game for the Felines and laid some great tackles.
Up forward Sophie Nicholson and Mackenzie Lewis provided strong targets with Sophie Nicholson narrowly winning their own duel.
Breanna Wojtowyez relished her opportunity when she rotated on the ball with some strong play. Georgia Massey continues to improve. A couple of times Georgia took the game on and she is beginning to show a lot more poise. Special mention to the newest Under 16 Feline Brooke Smith who was welcomed back into the club after playing a couple of games in 2017 as a twelve-year-old.
Amazing what a difference a couple of weeks can make.

Open Team
The open team has been building on their form for a number of weeks. Against Yarrawonga they achieved a fantastic win.
Yarrawonga brought the energy early and mustered a quick goal within the first minute of the game. The Felines responded to their opponent’s aggressive start by buckling down to their task that resulted in an incredible effort by the defenders as they did not allow Yarra to score again in the match.
The teamwork and ball movement has been steadily improving over the last month and today everything clicked into place. The young Felines reaped the rewards for working hard on these areas of the game. The team had 16 players who all did their job when required.
Zali Spencer was a standout in her first game back for the team from her Murray Bushrangers duties. There were also great efforts from Danielle Dalrymple and Briana Davies. Special mentions must be made to first gamers Allegra Lawrence and Samara Ferguson. It was great to see these players and others just do whatever they could for the team at every single contest.

Goals: Skye Simpson 4, Zali Spencer 1.
Best: Zali Spencer, Tahlia Simpson, Emily Nicholson, Kaitlyn Robinson, Skye Simpson, Brit Kungl and Lillian Walton.
The Murray Felines would like to thank the Corowa Rutherglen Football Club for hosting us at the John Foord Oval. Also our thanks go to Cr Shaun Whitechurch – Deputy Mayor of Federation Council who came down to meet the teams and watch the games.
The Felines now have a bye before travelling to Whorouly on June 16, in two big matches to take on the Alpine Lions.
