In the A Grade a grand final awaited the winner of Saturday’s preliminary final against Yackandandah at Ball Park. Corowa won the toss and elected to bowl in perfect conditions.
Play and miss was the theme of the opening overs as Joe Hansen and Kaelan Bradtke upped the pace.
Joe then removed dangerman Cooper Garoni with a swinging sandshoe crusher and born-again paceman Kade Wilson bowled Glass to have the Yack boys 2-27.
A steady flow of wickets ensued as Yackandandah continued to attack the game but at 6-110 Corowa was on top.
Things got away a little in the later overs before the innings ended on 155, possibly 20 more than should have been chasing.
Kade Wilson’s 2-23 from 9, Mark Athanitis (3-23 from 8) and Kaelan Bradtke (1-18 from 8) were the most economical of the attack.
The Roos chase started poorly as Matt and Kade Wilson and Jordan Eyers were out in quick time and the score was 3-22.
Bats of the season in Nathan Rhodes and Matt Grantham set about the recovery mission.
On 58 Rhodes didn’t quite nail a flick to leg and the Roos were in trouble again at 4-58.
Grantham was fighting hard until he too went for 33 from 97 balls.
The bowling was strangling any sniff of a fightback and Corowa just couldn’t penetrate the field.
Kodee Lowe (15) fought hard as he attacked the bowling but it was bridge too far for Corowa as the Roos slumped to be all out for 123 and the season was over.
Congratulations on a great season to all and thanks to all supporters who have come down during the year.
The club is extremely appreciative.
B Grade
B Grade are also out of the finals after going down to Kiewa with two overs to go in their clash at Kiewa.
Batting first Corowa was in real trouble at 2 for 2 in the second over and it got worse when they lost their third wicket at 17 in the 8th over.
Doug Lavis and Will Seymour steadied the situation for Corowa adding 79 runs before Lavis was unfortunately runout for a well-made 55.
And when Seymour was out two balls later for 34 Corowa was in trouble again at 5 for 100 after 22 overs.
Captain Scott Wilson played a superb innings adding 58 with Greg Burgess (11) and 33 with Luke Heagney before Wilson innings of 70 ended with 2 overs left.
Patrick Lavis and Tom Miegel added valuable runs as Corowa finished their 40 overs at 9 for 215.
In the chase Greg Burgess got an early wicket but Kiewa looked comfortable moving the score along to 47 before a direct hit run out by Luke Heagney got Corowa the breakthrough.
A couple of chances went begging before Gabby Sutcliffe got a double breakthrough to have Kiewa 4 for 83 after 18 overs.
The score continued to grow getting to 140 before Heagney got a breakthrough.
Youngster Patrick Lavis bowled a great spell to slow the scoring and when Sutcliffe got her third wicket Kiewa were 6 for 169 with 6 overs left.
But some big hitting saw Kiewa reach the total by the 38th over.

Bailey Minogue (33) and Jason Raggett (23) got Corowa into a good position at 3 for 147 with 8 overs to go.
But when both went in successive balls, Corowa struggled to keep up with the run rate as Corowa finished their 40 overs at 9 for 183.

Corowa struggled in the last few overs against some good bowling to be dismissed on the last ball for 158.
On Sunday early wickets were needed but they didn’t come as the East Albury opening batters batted superbly adding 132 for the first wicket before Patrick Blain got the first breakthrough.
Luke Heagney got another wicket but East Albury were able to pass the score in the 37th over only two wickets down.
