The 35-year-old actress married partner Cody John in August and though she insisted she didn't have "low expectations" for the big day, she tried not to get too excited in case there was any "drama", but ultimately had "one of the best nights" of her life.
"We got married in Sun Valley, Idaho. It was so amazing, it was at his family's house in the backyard. We put up a tent and had the time of our lives," she told Kate and Oliver Hudson on their Sibling Revelry podcast.Â
"And I mean, I had had, not low expectations, but I didn't want to get too excited about it.
"Everyone tries to tell you like, you know, there can be drama and this and that. So I was just going into it like, 'It is what it is.'
"And it really was one of the best nights of my whole life."
Despite being in her 30s, Roberts felt like a "teenager" when she tied the knot.
"What's so funny is I'm like thinking I'm this like, young bride, I'm like, 'Oh my god I'm a teenager getting married' and everyone's like, 'You're 35'."
Roberts - who has five-year-old son Rhodes with former partner Garrett Hedlund - and John exchanged vows in front of 200 guests because she didn't want to be "too rigid" when it came to the list of invitees.
"We wanted a bunch of people there to celebrate and our parents wanted to invite people, " she said.
"I didn't want to be that bride that was like rigid with the guest list.
"So couple of people last minute were like, can I bring so-and-so? I was like, sure."
Rhodes also had a special role to play in the big day.
"It was so magical and my son walked me down the aisle and that was so cute and so sweet," Roberts said.
