While there were a few poker faces, there was plenty more laughter and banter at the Barooga Sports Bowls Club on Thursday afternoon for the Cobram District Health Ladies Auxiliary's Cards and Games Fundraiser.

Held twice a year, auxiliary president Mary Powell said the cards fundraiser was always a happy day.
“Most play cards, some bring other games, and all you hear is noise, laughter and chatter,” she said.
The organisation has been active for 71 years, and has raised just short of $833 000 in that time.
The funds have gone towards equipment for the hospital or to Irvin House aged care, and they have recently bought an ECG for Cobram District Health.
The group holds events throughout the year, including a popular bowls day. The next fundraiser is a raffle at Easter.
