Gippsland-based wood sculptor Brandon Kroon, the artist behind BK Carving, will conduct live carving demonstrations throughout the event, showcasing a craft he has spent more than a decade refining.
Brandon first picked up a chainsaw for carving in 2013 and has since developed a diverse portfolio ranging from smaller decorative pieces for homes to large private commissions, public landmarks and interactive playground features for councils.
His work explores a variety of styles and subjects, including realistic wildlife and human forms as well as abstract and geometric designs, with a strong focus on detail and versatility.
When he is not working from his Gippsland workshop, Brandon takes his skills around the world to compete in international chainsaw carving competitions.
In June, he achieved one of the biggest milestones of his career at the Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship in Canada.
Brandon’s Lego-inspired creation, affectionately named “Loggo”, claimed first place and was also awarded both Carver’s Choice and People’s Choice.
The three awards add to a growing list of accolades for Brandon, with the Chetwynd victory standing as a particular career highlight.
At Elmore, visitors will be able to see the skill behind the finished pieces first-hand, as Brandon demonstrates the process from beginning to end.
Across the field days, raw logs will steadily take shape under his chainsaw, offering visitors an up-close look at an unusual form of artistry.
