Celebrate Seniors Festival at the Library

As part of helping, you stay active and independent at every age, join the celebrations at the Goulburn Valley Libraries’ Seniors Festival this October.

There are many activities on offer specifically designed for the over-60 crowd as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.

For the 2026 Seniors’ Festival, Goulburn Valley Libraries are offering more than 100 events across the library network, all free to participants.

Take the opportunity to meet Nic Healey from ABC Shepparton as he talks about all things radio and community on Monday, October 5 at 2.30pm at the Shepparton library.

On Thursday, October 8 at 11am, head to Tatura library for Billy Tea and Buses: Travel Australia by Coach and learn about travelling Australia via coach.

A representative from Cardwell’s Coach and International Travel will join us to explain what to expect and answer questions.

Morning tea will be provided at this event, so come along, join the fun and learn more about travelling Australia by coach.

On Tuesday, October 13, return to Tatura library to explore the world using virtual reality.

This session, specifically designed for seniors, gives you the chance to learn more about virtual reality and explore different locations, including the bottom of the ocean, all while seated in the library and supported by a staff member.

You don’t need experience; mobility is not an issue, and there is no need for a passport or expensive tickets.

Booking for this session is essential as equipment is limited, with different time slots available, starting from 10.30am.

You can also learn more about growing your own vegetables at the Mooroopna library on Thursday, October 15 at 2.30pm when Warwick Bone from Benalla Permaculture speaks about the basics and benefits of sustainable gardening.

There are also many more activities available this October at local libraries, including craft activities, family history, recording your own memories and experiences, games, help with phones and other technology; the list goes on.
