Principal Luke Simpson said both teachers and students were excited to showcase the many opportunities the school offered in teaching and learning.
“It also provides a chance to reflect on how teaching and learning has changed over the years, and to show our visitors how we do things in 2026,” he said.
“Students will be showcasing activities they are confident with, as they have participated in them previously.
“They will teach their grandparents how to complete the activity or game.”
Grandparents have been invited into classrooms on Thursday, May 21, from 9am to 10am for an hour of fun, which will include a variety of literacy, numeracy and STEM activities.
However, Mr Simpson said the theme ‘Showcase your school’ was also a broader opportunity to celebrate what made the school unique.
“Grahamvale Primary School has a strong sense of community and inclusion, where students interact and mix well with others, including those from different year levels,” he said.
“Our students are friendly, respectful and aim for their personal best each day across a variety of settings.”
These settings include the school’s recently launched values of being respectful, striving for your personal best, and being inclusive.
The values were introduced in classrooms in August last year through a range of activities designed to reinforce them.
Beyond the classroom, the school hosts many events that bring the wider community together.
“These include our whole-school fun run, athletics sports, Harmony Day, school fete, Easter hat parade and cross-country event,” Mr Simpson said.
“Parents are also invited to attend excursions and camps as helpers, and we have a strong Parents Club that organises fundraisers and events for our students and families, such as trivia nights and pancake mornings.”
The school also supports a wide range of extracurricular activities, including weekend soccer and netball, organised by the Grahamvale Sports Club.
The club also runs lunchtime programs such as taekwondo, dance and gymnastics.
