The 13-year-old girl's harrowing recorded evidence opened an anti-Semitism inquiry on Wednesday, where she revealed she had been at a Bar Mitzvah at the Bondi Pavilion on December 14.
"I could see through the glass doors of the venue, hundreds of people running away and screaming, and I had to be in lockdown," the girl said.
"When I eventually got home, I was shaking and sweating and crying."
Hearing sirens, helicopters or fireworks can trigger a trauma response, the girl said, as can going back to Bondi and seeing the bridge the gunmen used.
She is now scared to wear her Jewish jewellery in public and will tuck her necklace behind her clothes if she wears it at all.
"I don't think Jewish kids should be scared to live normally like other kids do," she told the inquiry.
The Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion is holding two weeks of public hearings into the lived experiences of Australia's Jewish community.
A person wearing an anti-Semitic shirt was moved on by NSW Police out the front of the hearing on Wednesday.
"We understand the matter is being dealt with by NSW Police," the commission said in a statement.
"The Royal Commission is appalled that such an item of clothing was worn in the vicinity of our hearing venue."
Joshua Gomperts told the inquiry he was volunteering with St John's Ambulance at a New Year's festival in regional Victoria and sitting with a group of first responders when one of them pulled out a knife.
"One of the firefighters looks at me and he goes, 'you're a Jew'," Mr Gompert said on Tuesday.
"He pulls out a large hunting knife and looks at me and goes: 'I would skin you the way my family skinned yours in the camps."
Melbourne man Kovi Paneth said he was taking public transport home from the airport on November 26, 2025, when he heard a commotion behind him.
"I heard someone screaming words to the effect of, 'how many babies would you need to kill in Gaza before you will be happy, you effing Jew'," Mr Paneth told the inquiry.
"After another minute or so of him rambling on and saying things, he realised he wasn't going to be able to bait me, so he actually just stopped."
The commission will hand down a final report before the end of the year.
