Remains confirmed as missing SA man

At the time Detective Inspector Mark McEachern said it was too early to tell if it was that of Steven Murphy who'd been missing for almost two months.

On Thursday, police confirmed the remains were those of the 38-year-old.

Detectives are treating his death as a homicide.

They had gone to the property after a tip-off on Sunday that there might be a body at the premises.

That information also led to the discovery of 20 cannabis plants and the arrest of a 45-year-old man on drug and firearms charges.

Police said they knew of no obvious connection between Mr Murphy and the man arrested at the Kudla residence and expected to make further arrests. 

They had posted an appeal in relation to Mr Murphy's whereabouts on Facebook on March 18. 

He was last seen at Kudla on February 15 with speculation online that he had been squatting in local farm buildings.
