Parker Pies smoked beef and truffle pie earned the revered Rutherglen shop the title of Best Gourmet Red Meat Pie, while also netting gold for Best Chicken Pie at this year’s competition.
Director of Parker Pies Fred Parker said his team medalled with all four entries submitted in this year`s competition, winning two silver medals along with their two golds.
Parker Pies first entered the competition in 2000 and were awarded Australia`s Best Gourmet Chicken Pie and runner up in Australia for the plain meat pie.
In 2003, 2005, 2006 they were awarded with Australia`s best Game Meat Pies and now in 2019 with Australia`s best Gourmet Red Meat Pie.
The competition is held annually and is the pinnacle of the pie making art in Australia.
The event attracts thousands of entries from all over the country and is judged by an elite panel of 16 judges including chefs, bakers and a range of industry reps.
This year’s competition was held at the Darling Harbour International Convention Centre in Sydney from September 9-12.
There are ten categories of pies appraised over the four day event including plain meat, gourmet meat, seafood, poultry and vegetarian.
Each year sees a myriad of new and innovative pie fillings and flavours, and apparently the 2019 event was no exception.
