An Australian Citizenship Ceremony was conducted for Awais Mehmood Siddiqui and dependent Muhammad Awais Siddiqui on September 17, 2019 by Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke.

Awais, wife Wafa, six-year-old Muhammad and two-year-old Moosa were at council’s monthly meeting for the ceremony.
Although only in Howlong for a short time, Awais and Wafa love their new surrounds. Both are tertiary qualified, as engineer and doctor respectively.
The family moved to Melbourne in 2013 from Pakistan and to Howlong two months ago. Councillors and executive staff welcomed the Siddiqui family with morning tea after the citizenship ceremony.
