The Rutherglen mother of two was caught up in the recent border bubble dilemma after deciding to stay in Corowa to keep her flower shop business open.
For six weeks, she could not cross the border to go home and be with her husband and two daughters in Rutherglen.
As she anxiously waited for restrictions to ease, Ms Massari decided she would complete a half-marathon with the support of her husband Sam and trainer Megan Wilson.
“Running kept me focused while I was separated from my family and home. Having to make a choice to stay in Corowa to keep our business open wasn’t an easy one,” Ms Massari said.
“I was going to do the Melbourne Marathon, but the event was cancelled. I thought, why not do a marathon here and raise money for a cause that is current and so relevant to what’s going on at the moment?
“So many people were in the same situation as me. A lot of others are doing it tough in other ways. I see the struggle and hear the stories every day within my florist shop walls,” she said.
On Sunday, Ms Massari completed the run in two hours crossing the finish line with her family. She thanked her supporters and everyone who donated to her chosen charity.
“I honestly can’t believe it. Corowa you have changed me, your support, love and passion over the last few months has blown my mind,” she said.
