The Kyabram Recreation Reserve transformed into a bustling picnic ground as 2000 residents and visitors spread out rugs and camp chairs to enjoy the festivities with friends and family.

Local voices filled the air with everything from country and pop to opera, while a fleet of popular food vans kept the crowds fed and refreshed throughout the evening.
In a fitting tribute to the town’s history, Kyabram’s former mayors and commissioners took to the stage to cut the celebratory cake ― a moment which drew a wave of applause from the crowd.
The evening was the culmination of months of work by organisers and Kyabram Development Committee members Tania Chiswell, Renee Pichler, Elle Lampard and Tiff Hoefnagels.

Reflecting on the turnout, Ms Pichler said it was great to see the community come out and celebrate, with Ms Chiswell adding that the strong “Ky-focus” throughout the night was also great.
Organisers also extended their thanks to all volunteers and supporters who helped to bring the milestone evening to life.
Buoyed by the event’s success, organisers are already setting their sights on what comes next.
Ms Chiswell said talks were under way to revitalise the popular Taste and Tunes, with a networking meeting planned for the future to establish new subcommittees under the development committee.
