The 50th anniversary also highlights the enduring 50-year partnership with Rotary, which originally helped establish Probus as a vital community program.
The month of October is officially celebrated as Probus Month, starting with Probus Day on October 1, which coincides with the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, honouring seniors and their societal contributions.
The official colours of Probus are Blue and Yellow and that’s why, with the generous support of Benalla Rural City Council, the trees along the Bridge St shopping precinct and Benalla Library and will be lit in blue and yellow at night, from October 4 until October 10.
A static display will also be on show at the Benalla Library for people to visit and learn about Probus, and in particular, the Probus Club of Benalla Rose City Inc.
The Probus Club of Benalla Rose City Inc was founded in March 2011 and this year celebrated its 15th anniversary.
It currently has 74 members who enjoy social connection through organised activities, including:
- Bus trips to Melbourne to see live shows
- Monthly lunches at local restaurants, hotels, cafes
- Visits to art shows
- Guest speakers
- Organised trips either intrastate, interstate or overseas.
- Car rallies
- Coffee mornings
Membership forms will be available at the library display, plus contact details.
The club meets every third Thursday of the month at Benalla Bowls Club.
