Running from 8am to 1pm, the event is expected to attract shoppers from across the region.
“After not having it last year, there was just a big call in the community to have it again,” Tongala Development Committee president Jason Kelley said.
“It’s always been a success over the years.”
For the first time, the sale will also expand beyond traditional garage and driveway sales, with car-boot vendors setting up at the IGA and farmhouses participating outside the township.
There will be plenty of the usual garage-sale finds, including household goods, tools, furniture and collectables, alongside much larger items, including a camper van, a boat and farm equipment.
“You might find something, bump into old friends, and uncover a hidden treasure,” Mr Kelley said.
With school holidays in full swing, Mr Kelley said the event was also an opportunity to bring new visitors to town.
“It’s drawing people into our town who wouldn’t normally come,” he said.
Mr Kelley said it gave visitors a chance to grab a bite at the bakery, takeaway shop, support the IGA and see the town’s street art or the Sir Doug Nicholls mural.
“It puts our town on the map for a day,” he said.
A map, which will be available from 8am on Saturday, October 3, can be picked up at the Tongala Kiosk or online via the Visit Tongala Facebook page and website at visittongala.com.au.
The event is shaping up to be big one, with about 60 homes already registered, giving shoppers plenty of ground to cover and no shortage of chances to come home with an unexpected find.
