Boots on the ground from Happy Shoe Shop

The Happy Shoe Shop has donated 800 pairs of gumboots to assist the flood-affected communities of Echuca and Rochester with their cleanup efforts.

This was made possible by the transport assistance of NRS Courier and Lions Club Geelong.

They have another 400 pairs of gumboots to donate, but need help with a delivery network to get them where they are most needed.

Peggy Knowles, owner of The Happy Shoe Shop, said it was difficult to imagine what it must be like to try to get homes and businesses back in order after events like these.

“It’s not much, but if we can help people keep their feet safe as they deal with flood water, we’re glad to be able to help.

“We want to do more for flood-affected communities but are limited by our delivery options. We are so grateful to NRS Courier and Lions Club Geelong, who have helped us with the deliveries to Rochester and Echuca.

“We’re appealing to transport companies or businesses travelling from Geelong back to flood-affected areas with empty trucks or vans to help us get gumboots where they need to go.

“We can’t make gumboot donations to individuals, but we’ve dropped our gumboot prices online to below wholesale to make them more affordable for those who can’t access them at a flood relief centre,” she said.
