The Benalla local, who proudly has hidden disabilities, is hoping to rack up some extra cash for his first trip overseas.
To do this, Lyle is collecting bottles and cans for 10-cent refunds through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.
“I have autism spectrum disorder and am deaf with a cochlear implant,” Lyle said.
“I am collecting (bottles and cans) for my first international (trip).”
On Sunday, November 8, Lyle will jet off to New Zealand: a destination he’s had his sights set on for a while.
“I’ve been wanting to go to New Zealand and explore,” Lyle said.
On Wednesday, October 14, Lyle will take to the streets of Benalla to collect bottles and cans for his trip.
So far, a number of community members and businesses have responded to Lyle’s Facebook post announcing this venture.
Lyle said he’d head directly to where the bottles and cans were.
“I am happy to collect from their house and business,” he said.
Lyle said he was grateful to those who were set to support his fundraiser, and for those who had previously helped him out.
“In the past (people have donated bottles and cans) and I’ve still got some,” Lyle said.
“I would like to say a huge thanks to all the people who help, currently and in the past.”
To support Lyle’s fundraising, community members can contact him directly on 0466 263 554.
Lyle has requested that donors text only, rather than call.
