Food Bowl provides food free of charge to people in need and Sgt Steve Marshall from Corowa Police said he was appalled that someone would believe they had priority.
“Fifty kilos is a lot of meat that doesn’t just disappear. Someone must know something,” he said.
Amaranth chief executive, Julianne Whyte said the chef arrived at the premises at Corowa TAFE at about 9am on Monday, June 16 and found the freezer open and all the pre-made meals gone.
The main freezer containing about 50kg of bulk meat, all donated and worth about $5,000, was also empty.
“You could see people had climbed up the outside and broken into the window from the outside,” Ms Whyte said.
“This was someone who knew when deliveries happened, and that the window was dodgy.
“They came with a hammer and nail, removed a board and nailed it back in again.
“Any food of decent quality was taken off the shelves … these were huge roasts, and they knew where to go.”
Sgt Marshall said anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Corowa Police Station on 02 6932 2899.
