Burke’s Bakery co-owner and pastry chef Hannah Tuckett said they are very excited to open the new location.
“We’ve got a really great location right across the lake, which has some amazing views,” she said.
“We’re expecting to be pretty busy, hopefully opening by May.”
“We’re just really excited to bring some nice new produce to Nagambie.”
Burke’s Bakery has been the local go-to bakery in Euroa for the last 21 years, and two and a half years ago, Ms Tuckett and her business partner Rob Beanham purchased the shop.
“Since then, we’ve made a lot of new changes to the shop ... new shop fit out ... everything like that,” Ms Tuckett said.
“The next step was just to expand and open the shop in Nagambie.”
Ms Tuckett has 15 years of baking under her belt, and she’s worked at Burke’s Bakery for a couple of years, while Mr Beanham worked there for 12 months before they purchased the business.
Since purchasing the shop, they’ve expanded their menu as well.
“(We added) a different range of sourdough ... we’ve got our pale ale, red wine, date and walnut, pumpkin.”
Vegan options, such as their vegan pumpkin pasty, are also available in stores now.
New variations of slices are also included in their latest menu.
But the real question is, what does the pastry chef recommend in her bakery?
“I’m a classic vanilla slice.I love the old-school vanilla slice,” Ms Tuckett said.
“That’s gonna be my pick!”
Burke’s Bakery in Nagambie hopes to bring locals and tourists alike to experience the beauty of Nagambie Lake and enjoy good food.
“We’ve got such a variety, you can’t really say what a best seller is, but we make everything fresh in store,” Ms Tuckett said.
“We’ve got our sourdoughs, which sell really well, including pale ale, a huge range of pies, cakes, slices, and vegan options, as well, and some gourmet salad rolls.”
“People can either sit in front of the shop or they can go to the grassy nature strip in between the road there.
“They can go all the way across to the lake and sit by the lake and have a nice fresh pie.”
Ms Tuckett said they are excited to open the new Nagambie bakery and invite everyone to try their menu.
“We look forward to serving all the lovely people of Nagambie,” she said.
