Complete with DJ, disco lights, balloons, bright colours, a crafting table and a never-ending supply of candy, young kids of all ages filled the hall with screams of delight while parents watched on, politely awaiting the impending sugar high.
Spread across two one-hour sessions, there was a dance competition with prizes handed out to the kids who put in the best effort, and a craft table where kids could make their own colourful jewellery and bunting.
Dance, crafts and prizes galore but the candy was the highlight at this school holiday event.
Aspiring local events planning entrepreneur Nelci Aston held the event as part of her ongoing cross-certification to bring her budding business into line with Australian standards.
“I need to hold events as part of my course to gain certification in Australia,” Nelci said.
“Although for me this is more about the kids and giving them something fun to do during the holidays.”
Nelci has had mor than 10 years’ experience as a wedding and events planner in Bali and now Australia.
She is set to complete her events planning course later this year, giving her full Australian certification.
“Although I am fully qualified in Indonesia and Bali, the laws and practices between the two countries are very different, so I need to complete an Australian course to transfer my qualifications over and comply with Australian practices,” she said.
Already this year, Candyland was her third major event, including the 2025 CRW Business, Sports & Community Awards held in June.
